How to save the environment..... in the bathroom!

When it's yellow, leave it mellow!

This tip is for all you bachalers and those who have the luxury of having your own bathroom. Just pop downn the lid when you're 'done' and flush at the end of the day after a few 'goes'! Flushing the loo uses a collasal amount of water that is mostly unneccesary. This rule is for the hardcore greenies out there :)

You don't need THAT much paper do you?

Have you ever noticed that you always seem to make do with that one last square on the roll of toilet paper? What if you cut down on the amount of squares! If you're frugal with the toilet paper, you'll have to change the roll less. Win? I think so! :L

Clean out them bottles!

I'm talking about shower gel/shampoo bottles to get the last of the suds out. Lasts longer=Save Money=Less consumerism=Less waste products of consumerism. Also don't forget to recycle them too! And choose the products with 'eco' lables and little packaging naturally ;)

Choosing the right toilet paper

Make sure the toilet paper you choose has an eco-lable :) I've heard that certain brands practise re-afforestation so you should encourage other brands do the same by buying the eco-friend good stuff!

DON'T LEAVE THE TAP RUNNING!

We've been taught since we were little not to leave the tap running while we're brushing our teeth! This rule also applies to showers of course, and never leave the sink to overflow either, when there are countries desiring for water to survive it's dispicable that we flaunt this valuable resource. Also, if you have a dodgey drippy tap - get it fixed!

Save energy.... Shower together ;)

I'm quite proud of coming up with this one! Showers, espicially power-showers use ALOT of energy as it has both a heating and motor element. To save energy while showering you could cut down on the lenght of them- 5mins is plenty of time. If you're not up for that you should consider turning down the strenght of the water gushing down or change to a slightly colder setting... Or share showers :L

Baths aren't better than showers btw!

If you don't know this already then you know now! Showers use less water than baths and plus, who wants to stew in their own water? If you do decide to take one, you could reuse the water from it to water your garden :)

Thats all I have :) Thanks for reading, if you have anything to add, please comment below! Oh, and take the tips with a pinch of salt :L If this hub makes anyone rethink their lifestyle even a teeny-tiny bit so as to be greener, I'll feel like I've done a good job :) ChangeTheFuture
